The economic gloom and doom seems to be over the horizons. In the earlier part of the year, the situation might have caused some holiday makers to change their plans and stay home instead of travelling. But with signs of recovery, travelers might be more inclined to take a break.
In a downturn, travel establishments like tour agencies, airlines and hotels are looking to attract these travellers with great deals to several destinations around the world. One such place would be Lanzarote, Spain.
Last year Lanzarote welcomed just over 1.5 million tourists. But the tourist arrival figures is projected to fall during 2009. In the first half part of 2009, arrivals dropped by around 20%, according to AENA, the Spanish airport authority. To tackle this issue, many Lanzarote apartments for example offer room rates that start from around $200 per week. The best offers can usually be found in Puerto del Carmen, which is the largest and oldest resort on the island. Being the oldest, it has the highest concentration of buildings compared to other destinations on Lanzarote.
If you are looking for great place to stay, one can find Lanzarote hotels and accommodations available in both the New and Old Towns. Each hotel accommodation Offers good facilities, such as swimming pools and maid service at highly competitive prices. In recent years, Puerto del Carmen has recently revamped and added a new marina which is nearing completion in the Old Town Harbour area. Whilst the main beachfront strip, the Avenida de las Playas has a nice mini golf course and shopping malls concealing a wide range of both sophisticated and more affordable dining choices.
For those who prefer more space and a private pool there are lots of good quality Lanzarote villas available for rent in all locations right across the island. Expect to pay from $500 upwards for a standard two bedroom villa with swimming pool. With many owners offering deals on their villas in Playa Blanca for early bookings. As competition for business intensifies in the islands southernmost resort due to an over supply of property there.
Playa Blanca is an ideal location for a break in the sun. Not least as it enjoys the best microclimate on the island. And is also home to some of Lanzarote´s finest beaches – such as the set of coves at Papagayo, which are just fifteen minutes walk from the town centre. Along with Playa Dorada and Playa Flamingo in the heart of the resort itself.
Visitors to the Canaries will get a warm welcome and have a fantastic holiday regardless of their choice of destination.
