If you are traveling via connecting flights instead of a direct connection to your destination, you might be asking whats a comfortable time between connecting flights? A comfortable time frame would be about anything above 60 mins, anything below that is cutting it really close. Of course, this would depend on the type of travel you are making, example if you are traveling international to domestic. This might take slightly longer as you would need to change terminals.

But if you are just connecting a flight domestically then the timing might be lesser as it would be within the same terminal, case by case.

Here’s an example, let’s say if you are flying SQ from Brisbane to Bangkok Thailand via Changi Airport and your transfer time is about 70 mins, do not panick, the time is more then sufficient for you to catch your connecting flight. Especially if you are flying the same airline as they normally cater the time needed to transfer baggage and passengers who need to change gates.

The only issue if you are in Singapore, you might one to cater something for gate security where there would be metal detectors and liquids declaration to be made. This might delay your entry by about 5 to 10 minutes, but normally if you are at the gate you should be safe.

In another example, if you are flying from Boston to Philadelphia and making a connecting flight from Philadelphia to Shannon Ireland, this would take a slightly longer time. As you would need to switch from the domestic terminal to the international terminal which are connected. For a comfortable timeframe to catch your connecting flight, anything more than 2 hours would be good as you wouldnt want to be rushing like crazy.

As a rule of thumb, its best to plan sufficient time for the transfer. To minimize the time required, you should do some research on the gates that you would be at and need to be, also lookup some directions in the airport so that you wouldnt flutter around. Going prepared would help set a good mood for your journey be it a business or pleasure right.
